about

Well past their 100th release now, Steve Bug‘s Poker Flat Recordings celebrates some of its true classics with this, the best of the A Sides, from catalogue numbers 76-100! On the surface what sounds like a numerical countdown quickly reveals itself to be a sure-fire package of some of the labels biggest hits.

Over 25 tracks we look back with great awe and wonder as we remember some of the moments on the dancefloor that shaped our current understanding of House and Techno. From leading producers like Trentemøller, Guido Schneider, Martin Landsky, Steve Bug, Raudive, Aril Brikha, Vincenzo and many more... it‘s truly a blessing to have all these tracks side by side.
Also well-known producer Trentemøller grew from humble beginnings and had some key releases on Poker Flat. Two tracks are included here; the electronic swagger of ‚Always Something Better‘ and Radio Slave‘s hypnotic remix of ‚Moan‘.
Who could forget the percussive, psychedelic ride that was Guido Schneider and Florian Schirmacher‘s ‚Transmission‘ or indeed Sebo K‘s fully bodied remix of ‚Let Me Dance‘ by Poker Flat original boy Martin Landsky?
US hero Josh Wink dropped the heavy ‚Thick As Thieves‘ a while back and its legacy still lives on... which also fits well into the ‚future acid‘ category that Bug‘s label is well known for. Still on an acidic tip Raudive aka Oliver Ho had some great moments on the label like the super-powerful ‚Zeitgeist‘ or ‚Christmas Tree‘.
Of course there‘s plenty on offer from key Poker Flat artists like Steve Bug with his infectious ‚Wet‘ or the textural ‚A World Without‘. Vincenzo‘s ‚The Fruit Fly‘ is edited by Bug too and ‚Behind The Curtains‘ was his perfectly deep collab with label comrade Clé. What‘s more? The infectious neo-tribal grooves of Tanzmann‘s remix of Clé‘s ‚Nomads‘ sounds just as fresh as is it did on first release!

More essentials in the package include stand out cuts from DJ T, Patrick Chardronnet, Jeff Samuel and Martin Buttrich. The compilation stands not only as an unmissable collection of some of Poker Flat‘s greatest moments, but as a piece of history for any fan, enthusiast or collector!
