After Trentemøller‘s „Moan - Dub & Instrumental“ (pfrwhite01) comes the second volume in the new Poker Flat series.
German born DJ, producer and remixer Matthias „Matty“ Heilbronn relocated to Brooklyn, New York, to become Frankie Knuckles‘ roommate and to fully focus on his musical career. With quite some success, as his discography proves, he had many releases on labels such as: Distant, Saw, Wave and Nite Groves. Also not to mention his countless remixes for Tiefschwarz, Urban Soul, Dimitri from Paris, Pink Floyd, Martin Solveig, Bootsy Collins, Tom Jones, Mory Kanté, Shazz, Anastacia to name but a few.
As a DJ his distinctive style earned him a spot on DJ Magazines Top 100 DJs and in DJ Magazines Top 10 Covermount CDs of the Decade, Matthias earned the #1 position of the decade for compiling and mixing his seminal Wave/Chez/Naked compilation.
Although renowned amongst heads for his soulful garage house sound, his DJ sets reveal a much broader cross-section of influences, described in Britains 7 Magazine as a "spellbindingly eclectic set" where his panoramic journey across often arbitrary musical genres, created a sense of New York, both past and present.
As one of New Yorks most in-demand editors and programmers, Matty worked on songs by Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Boys II Men and SWV. He also worked with an array of influential house music producers including Danny Tenaglia, Todd Terry, Tommy Musto, C&C Music Factory and Franois K.
Now Matthias Heilbronn‘s „Jungle Dub EP“ on Poker Flat reveals the more techy and reduced side of his musical creativity.
„Do It Right“ kicks off with a groovy and hypnotic bass-loop which paves way for cascading synth lines and a funky melody. „Jungle In The City“ is another Tech-House dancefloor track. It keeps the mystic vibe, but adds a darker atmosphere and features loads of soundbits „from the jungle“
